Position Title: Data Scientist / Senior Data Scientist

Department: Data Science, Technology group

FLSA Status: Exempt 

Location: Menlo Park, CA

Salary Range: $160K – $225K

Reports to: CTO

Job Summary:

This role will be at the forefront of our AI-driven initiatives, working with a diverse team of experts in biology, bioinformatics, and machine learning.  The responsibilities include developing and implementing innovative data analysis pipelines, predictive models, and visualization tools that will contribute to the understanding of complex and varied health datasets.  These efforts will support the delivery of data products to our users in order to improve their health outcomes.  The role requires working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to extract valuable insights and translate them into actionable knowledge.  The candidate requires a proven track record of applying AI and machine learning techniques, ideally to healthcare datasets.  They  must have excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively, as well as strong communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Essential Functions

To include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Data Science
  • Work closely with our scientists to understand complex, biological and healthcare datasets and apply this domain-specific knowledge to transform raw data into suitable formats for downstream analysis.  
  • Clean, preprocess, and curate diverse biological datasets, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Engineer appropriate datasets to support the development and deployment of data products, some of which are based on machine / deep learning models. 
  • Engineering
  • Build high quality custom software to support any activities across the various technology groups.
  • Communication
  • Communicate insights, results, and analyses to stakeholders using advanced visualization techniques.
  • Research
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary discussions to guide experimental design and data collection.

Qualifications

To include, but are not limited to the following:

  • A 4-year degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, math, computer science, physics, or engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 4+ years proven experience in a data science or quantitative analysis role.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in handling and processing big data sets from various sources, including, SQL, relational DBMS and cloud services.
  • High proficiency in Python.  Solid experience with other languages, such as R and Julia is a bonus.  
  • Extensive experience in applied statistics and machine/deep learning methods.  
  • The ability to speak and write fluent English. 
  • Experience with healthcare data and the regulatory environment associated with the application of AI is a bonus.
